What David Does

Fourteen years of helping people actually understand their money.

Household Cash Flow

Creates personalized budgeting frameworks for families navigating Hong Kong’s high-cost environment. Works with over 8,000 households to optimize spending and identify hidden savings.

Financial Education

Develops and teaches personal finance courses designed for real people. No jargon, no theoretical models — just practical lessons you can apply to your actual bank account.

Strategic Planning

Guides middle-income households through multi-year financial planning. Focuses on debt payoff, emergency funds, and wealth building strategies that actually stick in real life.

Local Market Knowledge

Deep expertise in Wan Chai and Hong Kong’s unique economic landscape. Understands rental markets, property costs, dual-income family dynamics, and practical solutions for urban households.

The Path to Financial Education

How eight years in banking led to a completely different career.

2009

Started in Corporate Finance

Fresh out of university with an accounting degree, David joined a major Hong Kong bank in the corporate finance division. He spent the next eight years managing financial products and working with high-net-worth clients.

2014

Made the Leap to Education

Frustrated by the gap between what banks sold and what families actually needed, David transitioned to financial education. Started developing training programs for community centers across Hong Kong, working with middle-income households who’d never had proper guidance.

2018

Created the Household Budgeting Framework

Developed a proprietary budgeting framework specifically designed for Hong Kong’s high-cost environment. This framework became the foundation for CashFlow Academy’s flagship courses and proved that real families could optimize their cash flow when given the right tools.

How David Approaches Finance Education

Real Numbers Over Theory

You won’t find abstract concepts or textbook examples in David’s courses. He works with actual household expenses, real income figures, and practical decisions you face every month. That’s how people learn to apply it.

Locally Relevant Strategies

Hong Kong’s financial landscape is unique — high property costs, specific tax structures, dual-income family dynamics. Generic advice doesn’t work here. David’s frameworks are built for Wan Chai families, with case studies and examples that actually reflect your situation.

From Anxiety to Confidence

What drives David is seeing families move from financial stress to clarity. When people understand their cash flow, they stop making reactive decisions and start building intentionally. That shift is everything.

You’ll Actually Stick to It

The best financial strategy is one you’ll follow for more than two weeks. David doesn’t design complex plans with seventeen steps. He focuses on frameworks that fit your actual life, your habits, and your priorities.

“I spent eight years in banking selling products. Then I realized what people actually needed wasn’t better products — it was understanding. The moment families grasp their own cash flow, everything changes.”

Questions About David’s Work

What makes David’s approach different from other finance courses?

Most finance education is one-size-fits-all. David’s courses are built specifically for Hong Kong families, particularly in Wan Chai and surrounding areas. He uses real local examples, actual household budgets, and strategies that work within Hong Kong’s economic landscape. There’s no generic theory — everything connects to your actual situation.

Who benefits most from David’s courses?

Middle-income families who want to understand their cash flow better. Couples managing dual incomes. Anyone feeling financial stress or uncertainty about where their money goes. You don’t need a finance background — David explains everything clearly and practically.

What’s David’s background in banking?

He spent eight years in corporate finance at major Hong Kong banks, working with financial products and high-net-worth clients. That experience taught him how the banking industry thinks — and more importantly, how it doesn’t match what regular families actually need. That gap drove him toward education.

Can David’s framework help if I’m already in debt?

Yes. In fact, many of the families David works with start from a place of financial stress or debt. His framework includes specific strategies for debt payoff, prioritizing expenses, and building momentum. The goal is moving from reactive to intentional.

How long does it take to see results?

Most families notice clarity within a few weeks of implementing David’s framework. Real behavioral change — like consistently sticking to a budget or paying down debt — usually takes a few months. But the shift from “I don’t know where my money goes” to “I’m in control” happens faster than you’d expect.
