The Path to Financial Education
How eight years in banking led to a completely different career.
Started in Corporate Finance
Fresh out of university with an accounting degree, David joined a major Hong Kong bank in the corporate finance division. He spent the next eight years managing financial products and working with high-net-worth clients.
Made the Leap to Education
Frustrated by the gap between what banks sold and what families actually needed, David transitioned to financial education. Started developing training programs for community centers across Hong Kong, working with middle-income households who’d never had proper guidance.
Created the Household Budgeting Framework
Developed a proprietary budgeting framework specifically designed for Hong Kong’s high-cost environment. This framework became the foundation for CashFlow Academy’s flagship courses and proved that real families could optimize their cash flow when given the right tools.
Building CashFlow Academy
As Senior Finance Education Specialist, David’s helped over 8,000 households optimize their cash flow. He’s particularly focused on Wan Chai and surrounding districts, creating courses and frameworks that work in real life. His teaching emphasizes actual numbers over theory — if you won’t stick to it, he won’t teach it.
